For the original Problem 10 (With a value of 1.515ppm) As per what I remember from the paper,
Answer= 1.515x50=7.575x10=75.75
336+75.75= 413.75 Approx 414 and (B)
AMC 8 Solutions:
1. 222222 - 22222 - 2222 - 222 - 22 - 2 Finding the ones digit of this is the same as taking the whole thing mod 10. That would be equal to 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 2. This is just -8. -8 ≡ 2 (mod 10) Hence the answer would be B) 2.
2. $\frac{44}{11} + \frac{110}{44} + \frac{44}{1100}$
Simplifying, we get:
$\frac{4}{1} + \frac{10}{4} + \frac{4}{100} $,
which is equal to :
$\frac{654}{100}$
which is C) 6.54
3. To find the black area, we need to find HIJMLK + ABCGFE
= HIJD - KLMD + ABCD - EFGD
= $7^{2}$ - $4^{2}$ + $10^{2}$ - $9^{2}$
= 49 - 16 + 100 - 81
= 33 + 19
= E) 52
4. Adding up all the numbers from 1 to 9, we get 45.
The closest square number that is less than 45 is 36.
Subtracting, we get 9.
Since 9 is the largest number from 1 to 9, the answer is E) 9
