sir, if by D alemberts ratio test, we get infinity, then the series is convergent or divergent?

for eg: in 1/n! applying alembers test we get infinity>1 so it ois convergent.

but on the other hand, the series like x+2x^2+3x^3........to infinity is divergent if i apply the same test even though i am getting infinity in both of the cases.

how it works?
