How to Solve Quadratic Diophantine Equation | ISI Entrance 2015 Objective 12

Quadratic diophantine equations can be hard to solve. However in this particular discussion, we will use a technique from elementary number theory to solve it. This problem is from the entrance of Indian Statistical Institute.

We use two facts:

1. Any square number produces remainders 0 or 1 when divided by 4
2. Remainders can be added.
